Call for Tutorial/Workshop Proposals

The IEEE International Conference on Cybernetics (CYBCONF 2013) will be held in Lausanne Switzerland, 13-15 June 2013 (http://cybconf2013.org/). It provides an international forum for researchers and practitioners to report the latest innovations, summarize the state-of-the-art, and exchange ideas and advances in all aspects of Cybernetics. The Program Committee is seeking tutorial and workshop proposals which are of interest to conference participants including topics related to the conference main theme: From ‘Human in the Loop’ to Autonomous Systems: Novel Approaches to Cybernetics. These workshops/tutorials will be held on Saturday 15th of june 2013.

IMPORTANT DATES

February 1, 2013: Proposal Submission Deadline for Tutorial/Workshop Sessions.
February 15, 2013: Acceptance/Rejection Notification for Tutorial/Workshop Sessions.
June 15, 2013: Tutorial/Workshop Sessions.

Tutorial/Workshop Chairs

Dr. Ricardo Chavarriaga Center for neuroprosthetics Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland
Prof. Dr. Robert Babuska Delft Center for Systems and Control  University of Technology

Tutorials:

The tutorial program provides an opportunity for conference participants to explore cutting-edge topics; to acquire new insights, knowledge, and skills; and to learn from a peer who is a leader in his/her field. Thus, we encourage various leaders in the respective technical areas to offer tutorials so as to share their expertise with peers in the research and industrial community.

Both half-day and full-day tutorial proposals are acceptable. The primary criteria for selection are the topic relevance, technical expertise of the instructor(s), and anticipated level of interest and impact.

Each tutorial proposal should include the following:

  1. Title for the proposed tutorial
  2. Abstract (indicate if full or half day tutorial is proposed)
  3. Intended audience
  4. Justification of interest and impact
  5. Short biography of presenters (include complete address, phone, and email)

Workshops:

Workshops enable researchers to discuss and exchange ideas on selected topics. The duration can be half a day or a full day. Workshops should be interactive events and not mini-conferences. Workshops with creative organizations that ensure good interactions among the participants will be desirable. The organizers of the workshops are preferred to be from different institutions in order to bring different perspectives to the workshop topic. The organizers of the accepted workshop proposals will be responsible for their own reviewing process, publicity, and materials intended for distribution to attendees.

Each workshop proposal should include the following:

  1. Title for the proposed workshop;
  2. Workshop length (half-day or full-day);
  3. Brief (one sentence) statement of the workshop goal;
  4. Brief (one paragraph) synopsis of the workshop content;
  5. Outline of major topics
  6. Justification of interest and impact for workshop attendees;
  7. List and short biography of presenters (include complete address, phone, and email).

Proposals for tutorials and workshops should be sent electronically to the chairs. The Program Committee reserves the right to cancel any tutorial/workshop if deadlines are missed or if too few attendees register for the tutorial/workshop.
